What is ACH?

An ACH, or Automated Clearing House, is an electronic funds transfer conducted between banks and credit unions through a network known as the Automated Clearing House network.

ACH serves as a mechanism for various types of fund transfer transactions, including direct deposits. Although many ACH payments are processed faster than a wire, due to the processing method and precautions against fraud and money laundering, transactions may occasionally require a few days to be completed.
