What can I do if I need to pay for something but there is not enough on my prepaid card to cover the payment?

In general, your transaction will be declined if you try spending over the balance remaining on your card. However, some merchants will allow you to use combined forms of payment. For example, use the balance of your prepaid card, and the remaining balance in cash. It is important that you let the sales clerk know upfront that you plan to do this, and how much you want to pay with your prepaid card and how much with an alternate payment method, before the transaction begins.
